Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping & Returns

How much is shipping?

Shipping will be automatically calculated at checkout. Shipping is subsidized and some items do not have an additional shipping charge. If you are picking up your item there is a local pickup option, please select that. If you purchase multiple options I will refund your any excess shipping costs. Custom cards receive free shipping.

What service do you use?

We use whatever service will get your item to you as fast and safely as possible. We use USPS and UPS for most of our packages. If you prefer a specific shipping method please reach out to us in advance and we will make a note of it. Express shipping is an option as well for an additional fee. If it is faster to drop off your item we will drop off your item directly to the address provided.

We try to reuse items for shipping and try to use environmentally friendly items wherever possible to reduce our impact. Ceramics must be packaged properly to ensure items don’t break but rest assured that we have reused packaging as much as possible. Where applicable, the honeycomb packaging material used is recyclable.

Can I pickup my item? Will I get a discount?

If you’d like to pickup an item please select the pickup option at checkout or email me at madebysanjana@gmail.com and I’ll make a note of it. Local pickup is available in Massachusetts or upon other specific arrangement.

If you do not arrange for local pickup time within 10 days of delivery then your item will be put back and you will be refunded minus a 5% restocking fee for paper items (cards, ink drawings) and 10% for everything else.

Note: custom pieces are NOT applicable for this in any situations, if you do not pick up your items they will not be refunded in any capacity. This includes custom and bulk card orders.

Where do you ship to?

Currently we ship to the 50 United States. Please reach out for special requests for other destinations. We may be able to accommodate you.

What is your return policy?

We strive to provide as much information as possible about size, usage and finish. All sales are final.

If an item arrives damaged, please reach out to us within 2 days of receiving the items with photographs of the packaging, the item and any and all other information you have. All reasonable requests will be accommodated. We do our best to make sure that items arrive to your home in perfect condition.

Please note that we track all items so if an item is delivered and you do not pick it up in a reasonable amount of time after the fact and it is damaged by weather or other external factors then it will not be eligible for a refund.

If an incorrect item was sent to you it will be refunded or replaced at no extra cost.

Care & Use

Ceramics:

All listings have details about the making, firing and usage. Use that information to properly guide you below

Cone 10: Fired to Cone 10, also known as high fire. There is no significant difference between usage but the clays and glazes used are different so the finished pieces have a different look.

Cone 5/6: Fired to Cone 5 or Cone 6, also known as mid fire. There are no significant difference between usage but the clays and the glazes are different so they have a different look.

Cone 05: Fired to Cone 05, also known as low fire. This is called earthenware. There is no significant difference between the usage, the clays tend to retain a brighter color. They are fired to a lower temperature and tend to be more absorbent of water. Avoid using the dishwasher.

Dishwasher and Microwave - Unless specifically noted all items are safe to microwave and put in the dishwasher. I strongly recommend hand washing your ceramics items with a small amount of soap and water and hand drying immediately. I encourage you to make sure the bottom (which is unglazed) is not exposed to water for long periods of time. Specifically with low fire pieces, avoid the dishwasher.

Food Safe - All of my ceramics are made with food safe materials and glazes. Most of my pieces are functional, they are meant to be used!

Handbuilt - If a piece is handbuilt it means that the wheel was not used, usually the piece is made from a slab of clay. All of my work is made by hand and is unique.

Wheel thrown- If a piece is wheel thrown it means that a ceramics wheel was used in order to create the piece. All of my work is made by hand and is unique.

Handling: Ceramics are a functional art, nothing is better than a piece being used. That being said, pieces are inherently fragile, so please be gentle. If they are dropped or used harshly they will break!

Do I need to protect my delicate surfaces from ceramics?

Many pieces will come with little plastic bumpers that you can place on the bottom to protect your tables and other surfaces from being scratched. These are not necessary but I find them to be useful.

What are seconds?

A second is a piece that is flawed is some way or does not meet our standards for a full price piece. It is fully functional but available at a discount. Please view the photographs available on the product page to see the details of all of the pieces before purchasing. Seconds are not available for refund unless they break during shipping.

Acrylics:

How do I frame acrylic paintings?

This depends on what surface the painting is on:

Acrylic on Canvas: You can purchase floating frame from any online retailer. The canvases are standard size and will be placed into the frame.

Acrylic on Canvasboard: You can purchase frames specifically for acrylic on canvas board, gesso board and clayboard. These are available online and at craft stores. Regular frames can be modified to hold the board which is thin but elevated. You can also attach mounting directly on the back of the board to hand unmounted.

Acrylic on Board (with mounting) - these pieces have a hole in the back for easy hanging. They will come with finished sides(usually in a solid colors)

What does varnished mean?

All of my paintings are varnished. The varnish will protect the painting from dust, UV rays and yellowing and will help the painting last longer.
